Job Overview

Working under general supervision, the Supervisor, Technical Services will be part of the Corporate Technology team and contributes to Wawanesa’s success by maintaining, enhancing and supporting standard business applications and access.


Job Responsibilities

  • Design, Install, Manage, and Monitor core network services that include Wireless, LAN, WAN and Internet Portal environments 
  • Isolate, resolve and document operational and technical problems and performance bottlenecks 
  • Develop and maintain network management procedures including the documentation of procedures for daily operational support 
  • Lead network technology evaluation and architecture planning processes as required 
  • Ensure System Stability and availability with a focus on a superior customer experience
  • Manage team activities to ensure successful completion of work items
  • Communicate plans, progress, and deliverables to all required stakeholders
  • Ensure defined processes, methodologies, and procedures are followed
  • Contribute to the build and execution of the annual operational plan
  • Ensure system stability and availability with a focus on a superior customer experience while meeting established service levels.
  • Plan and manage application and infrastructure vitality
  • Ensure continuous improvement in operational processes
  • Oversee and coach a team to ensure work environment is respectful, challenging, and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of the company's goals.
  • Contribute to departmental budget creation
  • Perform other Duties as assigned
  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years experience in a senior IS position
  • Network and Security experience with
    • supporting Checkpoint firewalls/blades
    • network switching and routing configuration
    • with various network technologies such as: CISCO IOS, BGP, OSPF, VPN, F5 Load Balancers, QoS, Wireless
    • network management and reporting systems such as Solarwinds and Cisco Prime/DNA
  • Strong vendor management skills.
  • Strong client service orientation, with an expert understanding of customer service with the ability to establish and maintain high standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively and persuasively communicate to all levels of audience.
  • Good problem solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, to develop, evaluate options, and implement solutions.
  • Experience with AWS is considered an asset
  • Experience with ITIL framework is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the Insurance/Finance industry is considered an asset.
