Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision this role, as part of our Internal Reporting team, contributes to Wawanesa success by designing, documenting, testing and supporting reporting solutions to meet business stakeholder requirements. 
You are someone that will have strong system and business analytical skills within data warehouse, business intelligence, data integration and reporting concepts and principles, preferably with Kimball, and with a strong technical acumen with SQL query writing.  This role will provide timely and accurate information and reports to support business decision making. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis, design and documentation of both system and business requirements for application/reporting enhancements and projects.
  • Conduct requirement sessions with business and system teams.
  • Communicate system solutions in business and technical terms.
  • Researches and extracts complex data via writing SQL queries and/or using MicroStrategy reporting tool.
  • Provides input into the development and maintenance of accurate reports and metrics.
  • Collaborate with multiple functional teams to ensure quality software.
  • Create test cases/plans based on requirements documentation and defect resolutions.
  • Identify and resolve both system and business requirement issues.
  • Follow established practices, processes and guidelines.
  • Keep up to date with current system standards and IS departmental established methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • 3 to 5 years’ experience performing systems or business analysis.
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in data warehouse models, preferably with Kimball, as well as data integrations. 
  • Practical experience with SQL and Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or related. Experience with MicroStrategy would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced analysis and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize a busy workload.
  • Advanced attention to detail skills to produce high quality deliverables that accounts for all areas involved.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and implement plans by prioritizing and multi-tasking.
  • Good leadership skills to provide support and guidance to team members.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in agile practices, scrum, kanban and continuous delivery.
  • Experience in programming languages is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in insurance industry is considered an asset.
