Job Overview

The Senior Sustainability Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for leading all activities related to Wawanesa’s financial and regulatory reporting and disclosure requirements for sustainability and Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD). The role will be relied upon to assess opportunities and deliver recommendations and deliverables that will have a significant impact on TCFD reporting by Wawanesa.  The Senior Sustainability Reporting Analyst will work closely with stakeholders across the company as it related to the TCFD Reporting, provide quarterly reporting to the Executive team and other internal stakeholders and engage in completing the Wawanesa Annual Sustainability Report. The role will be relied upon to assess opportunities and deliver recommendations that will have a significant impact on the company’s reporting capabilities.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and documentation of processes and procedures to meet requirements of TCFD Reporting and the Wawanesa Annual Sustainability Report  
  • Lead cross-functional working groups providing recommendations on optimizing reporting processes for gathering disclosures for the Wawanesa Annual Sustainability Report 
  • Actively research sustainability disclosure requirements; collaborate with other functional areas of the Company on obtaining information to meet requirements for financial and regulatory disclosure of ESG
  • Responsible for monitoring and documenting the regulatory landscape as it relates to future developments for TCFD reporting and ESG disclosures 
  • Review and report on actions of Wawanesa peers as it relates to ESG and TCFD reporting including impacts of new products or internal / external factors requiring disclosure
  • Participate in external webinars and networking events as it relates to sustainability reporting; participate and lead internal education sessions for Wawanesa employees regarding ESG and TCFD reporting requirements and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years reporting experience, including involvement with TCFD or other related sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required, or commitment to pursue CPA designation or equivalent
  • Takes clear ownership and becomes an expert in certain subject area(s), educating others in areas that are especially knowledgeable
  • Demonstrates effective communication and presentation skills by expressing ideas clearly, and asking probing questions to ensure understanding
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to multitask effectively and execute deliverables within required timelines and expectations
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment with a high level of initiative, demonstrated motivation and enthusiasm
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in insurance industry or financial services considered an asset
