Job Overview

The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for the accurate and efficient operation of the benefits administration function.  This involves engaging in cross functional support and designing processes to foster accuracy, service delivery, efficiency, and compliance.  


Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews policies, programs and processes, and monitors best practices on an ongoing basis.
  • Reviews contracts based on latest agreements or provisions and collaborates with third party vendor(s) for contract renewals and implementations.
  • Ensures intact and accurate file feeds to various US carriers and ongoing system data maintenance and configuration (Ceridian Dayforce.)
  • Communicates benefits plans through the Company's intranet site, ensuring employees have access to the latest benefits information.
  • Supports various stakeholders regarding benefits-related questions, current trends and legislation to ensure compliance with applicable employment-related statutory requirements.
  • Develops benefit procedures.
  • Coordinates projects relating to re-designing and streamlining administrative processes associated with benefits.
  • Creates, maintains and reconciles monthly administrative services only (ASO) benefit billings to carrier. 
  • Configures and tests system for annual benefit open enrolment (US.) 
  • Plans and coordinates benefit program activities.
  • Participates on project teams to implement benefit programs, support and maintain system changes and other initiatives as necessary.
  • Ensures all employee benefits (life events, group life and dependent insurance, beneficiaries etc.) are administered correctly.
  • Ensures ongoing evaluation of the employee benefit information due to changes in programs, procedures, legislation and benefit carrier regulations.
  • Researches and prepares reports for internal stakeholders, keeps abreast of changes that impact plan administration, identifies needs and assists in the preparation of employee benefit communications.
  • Identifies and recommends best practices for managing benefits administration including collaboration with internal Payroll and Disability teams. 
  • Takes initiative in pursuing objectives and ensuring deadlines are met. 
  • Performs other related duties, as required.


  • 4-6 years of experience in benefits implementation and administration.
  • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion and integrity.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet strict deadlines and handle multiple and conflicting priorities.
  • Demonstrated credibility as a subject matter expert in relation to benefits administration.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to write clearly and concisely in a professional manner.
  • Bi-lingual (English/French) would be considered an asset.
  • Decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives and tactics to others.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Strong problem-solving, project management and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of provincially- and federally legislated payroll reporting requirements and all aspects of company benefit programs.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Tech-savvy, proficient with MS Office, with the capacity to master new software quickly.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce considered an asset.
