Job Overview

As a senior technical member of digital delivery teams with director-level reporting, the API Solution Architect is responsible for contributing to the strategy, design, and delivery of API’s to enable the digital delivery of targeted capabilities for our brokers and partners. Leveraging existing assets, and contributing to the selection of new innovative technologies, the API Solution Architect is responsible for defining and evolving API capabilities while ensuring a stable and high-performing system that scales effectively with business growth.
Job Responsibilities

  • Partner and collaborate with delivery teams to design, build, and evolve API’s that deliver targeted capabilities for our brokers and partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on architectural direction in alignment with enterprise architecture and technology strategies, methodology, design, and reuse opportunities for external-facing API’s and internal back-office integrations.
  • Provide delivery leadership, technical expertise, coaching and guidance to delivery teams to ensure API and integration design and implementation addresses key functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure solution design is compliant with established enterprise architecture standards and principles
  • Partner with enterprise services and delivery teams continually improve development practices, adopt and evolve standards and best-practices.
  • Participate and provide technical leadership and guidance in the construction, modeling, and design of prototypes and proofs of concepts
  • Ensure proper and effective reuse of application and technical services, patterns, frameworks and standard tools and templates in the proposed solution.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture to develop technology roadmaps to support strategic objectives and strategies, drive alignment with enterprise technology strategies, and evolve architecture governance, principles, and standards to enable future requirements.
  • Collaborate with a broader group of solution architects to continuously improve solution architecture practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of professional work experience in a technical discipline, preferably in medium to large enterprise environments
  • Proven expertise implementing large-scale API’s and/or back-office integrations using the Mulesoft platform
  • Demonstrated experience effectively collaborating with business and technology leaders
  • Demonstrated experience working in an agile software environment
  • Strong business sense with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a persuasive and eloquent manner
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a busy workload and multiple large projects
  • Experience implementing large-scale API’s using public cloud technologies (e.g. AWS) is an asset
  • Experience implementing and/or operating the Guidewire InsuranceSuite platform is an asset
  • Experience working in the insurance industry and knowledge of relevant technology trends is an asset
  • Experience with Guidewire digital products is considered an asset
