The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $110,000 - $140,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision and reporting to the Director, Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand, this senior role as the Manager, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) provides consultation and advisory services as well as thought leadership to Leaders across Wawanesa.  This role also partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure DEIB principles are embedded across Wawanesa people practices to support a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing on all D&I strategic elements and deliverables. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive DEI frameworks, strategies, tools, initiatives, and action plans that foster inclusion, equity and diversity along with alignment with our company’s values, business goals and people goals. 
  • Build a consistent DEI methodology, approach, and governance structure to effectively align resources and accountabilities to priorities.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance and continually improve our DEI program to ensure a strong employee experience, alignment with our people and culture programs and processes, and effective use of technology to support outcomes, including:
    • Stewardship of Employee Groups and any such Councils.
    • Connecting talent programming to strategic DEI outcomes.
    • Education and Mentorship.
  • Develop and sustain effective working relationships and provide coaching to key stakeholders including: 
    • People & Culture Leaders and Team Members to ensure the integration and alignment of DEI activities within and across all people and culture projects/programs, and ensures activities are aligned with overall business objectives.
    • Business leaders by providing DEI solutions that reinforce a culture of belonging and create a high-performance culture (e.g., diagnose potential organizational problem areas, recommend training and development systems, create definitions of desired individual or group performance, etc.).
       

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years’ experience preferred in relevant roles or equivalent experience (e.g., strategy development and implementation of programs; ideally, diversity, equity, and inclusion-related). 
  • Post-secondary degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organization Development, HR, business administration, or closely related discipline.  A combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent may be considered.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
  • Proven success in change management.
  • Previous experience leading people directly under your supervision and experience leading committees and/or volunteers.
  • Demonstrated capability in facilitation and consultation with a variety of individuals / groups from senior executives to front line employees on range of simple to complex topics.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor to facilitate effective change and improvements.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects and navigate through ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills adaptable to a variety of audiences, understanding and anticipating business needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills by managing the details of complex problems and delivering the results required.
  • Advanced customer service orientation with the ability to present ideas, plans and solutions and deliver approaches in a business-friendly context.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Visio) required.
  • Familiarity with engagement survey tools preferred.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional designation or insurance industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Certifications / designations in Learning and Development, Organizational Change Management, Process Improvement, Lean would be an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Bilingual English & French would be considered an asset as would experience in the Insurance industry.
