Job Overview


We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Digital Products.


In this role you will be responsible for leading the development, enhancement and maintenance of Wawanesa’s digital products by providing digital and insurance product expertise. The Manager, Digital Products works with leadership across business units and information services to ensure our digital products are in alignment with our vision and strategy.


The ideal candidate would bring a minimum of 8 years P+C experience, is a thought leader, and has a solid understanding of the changing needs of insurance consumers in the digital space. 


Job Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the development of the digital product strategy, vision and roadmap
  • Identify and lead product portfolio planning including development of business case, development, system and operational requirements, and product scope definition
  • As the Product Owner, participate in requirements sessions, lead the prioritization of defects and enhancements in the product backlog
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints
  • Develop strong business relationships by liaising with internal stakeholders, as well as external industry peers and organizations
  • Hire, develop and coach a high performing team of Digital Product Specialists including goal-setting and performance management
  • Monitor trends in the business including new business, quote and close ratios, growth, profit, retention and customer profiles to identify needed changes
  • Demonstrate thought leadership and critical thinking – with the ability to roll up your sleeve and get the work done
  • Stay abreast of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends as they relate to the insurance industry
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • 5+ years experience leading projects, teams and/or initiatives in a technically and operationally complex organization
  • Minimum 8 years of property and casualty insurance experience
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant digital experience
  • CIP or equivalent Property and Casualty industry designation
  • University Degree; a focus in business, eCommerce or Computer Science would be an asset
  • A user-centric orientation with knowledge of product management tools
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced decision-making skills, with the ability to identify and review potential impacts
  • Advanced leaderships skills with the ability to influence, negotiate and gain credibility and confidence with others
  • Prior experience delivering business projects within Information Systems an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel
