Job Overview

Working under general supervision, this job contributes to Wawanesa’s success by ensuring desktop systems availability throughout the enterprise. The desktop support technician fulfills service requests and performs maintenance activities in a customer friendly atmosphere.
 
Job Responsibilities

  • Follows pre-defined processes to resolve service requests
  • Works with others (both internally and externally) to complete requests in a productive and courteous manner
  • Communicates progress and escalates for assistances to ensure efficiency
  • Creates and maintains documentation to share information and ensure repeatability
  • Performs system maintenance activities
  • Protects clients data and privacy
  • Monitors performance, capacity and stability of the desktop systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Obtained or currently pursuing a post-secondary technical certification. Experience may substitute for education or certification
  • 1 year experience working in a diverse technology environment
  • Experience with solving Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office problems is required
  • Experience with diagnosing desktop hardware issues
  • Position requires high mobility throughout several office buildings to meet customer requirements. This may include lifting to 30lbs, squatting, and pushing carts with heavy equipment.
  • Position requires a flexible work schedule. On occasion work will be done outside normal business hours to accommodate business needs
  • Good customer service skills by providing friendly, cheerful service.
  • Good organization skills by prioritizing and reprioritizing tasks appropriately
  • Ability to work in a collaboration with other team members, sharing knowledge and know how
  • College Diploma or University Degree is considered an asset
  • Basic experience with ITIL Processes is considered an asset
