Job Overview

Under minimal supervision, the Claims Solutions Architect will contribute to Wawanesa’s success by partnering and collaborating with delivery teams to lead the technical delivery of claims solutions that enable a great claims experience for our customers and brokers. As a senior technical member of claims delivery teams with director-level reporting, the Claims Solution Architect is accountable for the design and delivery of new claims features and enhancements leveraging the Guidewire platform while ensuring a stable and high-performing system that scales effectively with business growth.


Job Responsibilities

  • Partner and collaborate with delivery teams to design, build, and evolve claims solutions that enable our employees to deliver a great experience for our customers and brokers.
  • Provide delivery leadership, technical expertise, coaching and guidance to delivery teams to ensure solution design and implementation adequately addresses functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure solution design is compliant with established enterprise architecture standards and principles
  • Partner with enterprise services and delivery teams continually improve development practices, adopt and evolve standards and best-practices.
  • Participate and provide technical leadership and guidance in the construction, modeling, and design of prototypes and proofs of concepts
  • Ensure proper and effective reuse of application and technical services, patterns, frameworks and standard tools and templates in the proposed solution.
  • Partner with delivery teams to design and implement claims integrations with internal systems, as well as claims API’s to support and enable our brokers and partners.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture to develop claims technology roadmaps to support and enable claims objectives and strategies, drive alignment with enterprise technology strategies, and evolve architecture principles and standards.
  • Collaborate with a broader group of solution architects to continuously improve solution architecture practice.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and models for claims systems and supporting ecosystem.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of professional work experience in a technical discipline, preferably in medium to large enterprise environments
  • Proven expertise implementing and/or operating the Guidewire InsuranceSuite platform at scale
  • Experience working in an agile software environment
  • Experience working in the insurance industry and knowledge of relevant P&C technology trends
  • Experience effectively collaborating with business and technology leaders
  • Strong business sense with the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a persuasive and eloquent manner
  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a busy workload and multiple large projects
  • Experience with Guidewire digital products including Guidewire Cloud is considered an asset
  • Experience using public cloud technologies (e.g. AWS) is an asset
  • Experience using enterprise integration platforms such as Mulesoft is considered an asset
