Job Overview

Working under general supervision, this job contributes to Wawanesa success by building, maintaining and supporting business systems and applications.

 

This is a student term position, with a start date of May 4, 2026 to August 21, 2026. This role requires the successful candidate to be in the office 4 days/week, with 1 day/week able to work remotely. To be considered for the role, candidates must be located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software.
  • Prepare technical specifications from requirements.
  • As part of a team, maintain the operation of business systems and applications.
  • Estimate and track progress of assigned work.
  • Create and update relevant documentation.
  • Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled and in their 3rd or final year of a post-secondary computer science related degree or diploma program.
  • Academic or practical experience performing an application development role is an asset.
  • Experience using AI is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience with: JIRA, Confluence, Source Code Management, and TeamCity.
  • Experience with: Unix, Windows, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Java.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Effective organizational and self-management skills.
  • Willingness to learn and understand processes and their implications across the organization.
  • Knowledge of the following is considered an asset:
    • Windows, Linux, relational databases (Redshift, Oracle), Structured Query Language (SQL),, Java, and Microsoft Office Products.
    • Scripting languages such as Python, BASH, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, or similar.
    • Version Control systems such as GitHub.
    • Continuous Integration (CI) processes and technologies such as Jenkins, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline.
    • Cloud computing concepts and infrastructure, specifically with AWS tools like Redshift, Athena, Aurora PostgreSQL or GLUE.
