The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $42,000 - $48,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor of Group Underwriting, as part of the Group Underwriting team, the Group Underwriting Assistant prepares Quote and Renewal files used by Group Underwriters and maintains the request for quotation database. This role is responsible for processing new group applications with less complex plan designs in a timely manner and providing administrative assistance to Group Underwriters as required.
Job Responsibilities
- Review broker request for quotation emails, and identify and request missing information
- Review and prepare new request for quotation for underwriters’ review, including conducting NAIC code searches
- Meet request for quotation turnaround times by prioritizing workload
- Identify complex and/or large request for quotation and determine if an additional review by a senior member is required
- Provide exceptional customer service to plan advisors by accurately processing new business applications in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update the department request for quotation database using Microsoft Excel
- Prepare monthly renewal documents for Group Underwriters’ review, including running reports and reviewing plan design details
- Monitoring the Group underwriting team mailbox and assigning emails and appropriately tasks as received
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- One to two years' experience in an administrative or customer service capacity in an office environment is required
- Good computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite is required. (Microsoft Word and Excel software applications)
- Good time management and organization skills with the ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines, with the ability to handle a fluctuating workload
- Ability to contribute to a positive work atmosphere in a deadline driven environment
- Good attention to detail with the ability to review information carefully and to completion.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience
- Willingness to enroll in or actively working towards or completion of Group Benefits Associate designation is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
