Job Overview
The Treasury Analyst is responsible for daily, weekly and monthly transaction processing, journalizing into Peoplesoft, troubleshooting issues and reconciliations. The Treasury Analyst’s scope includes all Wawanesa controlled entities, Wawanesa Mutual, Wawanesa Life, Trimont and to a limited degree and The Western Financial Group.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for resolving daily banking transaction exceptions on a timely basis
- Troubleshoot and co-ordinate working groups to resolve payment or other related transaction issues between the different departments, Wawanesa controlled entities and banks as required
- Responsible for the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly journal entries into PeopleSoft to record all banking or other related transactions
- Responsible for the reconciliation of bank or other related general ledger accounts and investigate/ resolve exceptions in a timely manner
- Responsible for verifying the validity of daily cashed cheques to mitigate financial loss through fraud or error
- Responsible for resolving payment related enquiries from both internal and external stakeholders which include our policy members
- Co-ordinate and prepare cash transfers between the various Wawanesa owned bank accounts
- Assist in daily Cash Flow reporting and variance analysis
- Identify and implement changes/technology to create greater efficiencies and/or provide more valuable reporting
- Track activities for KPI reporting
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting activities as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a related role
- Completion or enrollment of post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience
- Experience with preparing accounting or banking reconciliations
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to effectively work individually and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Possess excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
- Exceptional customer service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for member satisfaction
- Possess strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Peoplesoft or similar software is considered an asset
- Bilingual, English and French is considered an asset
