Working Business Language: English. This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language utilized is English.
 

Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $85,000 - $115,000.   Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Solution Analyst (Intermediate or Senior) will be part of our Life Data Squad Delivery team and contribute to Wawanesa’s success by analyzing, designing, documenting, testing, and supporting technology solutions that meet business stakeholder requirements. 
  
 
The ideal candidate enjoys working in an Agile Scrum team that delivers rapid, high-quality solutions through collaboration, continuous improvement, and quality-driven practices. You will bring experience in business, systems, and/or quality analysis, along with strong technical proficiency in databases, system integrations, and data-driven applications. 
  
 
 The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, including proficiency in SQL, understanding of data flows between integrated systems, and familiarity with data modeling concepts. Candidates who demonstrate curiosity or experience in applying AI technologies to improve analysis, automation, or decision-making, or operational efficiency will be well-suited to this evolving role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design and documentation of both system and business requirements for application enhancements and projects. 
  • Lead the requirement sessions with business and system teams. 
  • Collaborate with multiple functions to ensure quality software. 
  • Provide technical and business leadership for developers and Analysts. 
  • Lead the resolution of system and business requirement issues. 
  • Create test strategy, plans and cases based on requirements documentation and defect resolutions. 
  • Coordinate/support planning and execution for projects and initiatives, including allocation of resources. 
  • Estimate and track progress of assigned work. 
  • Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines. 
  • Identify and Lead process and procedure improvements. 
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge on current system standards and IS department established methodologies. 
  • Engage with business partners to understand current and emerging business needs while keeping up with industry trends (business and technology). 
  • Lead the communication of system solutions in business and technical terms. 
  • Analyze and interpret SQL queries to support data validation, reporting, and troubleshooting.  
  • Investigate and document integration payloads (e.g., JSON, XML) exchanged between applications to ensure data accuracy and system compatibility.  
  • Collaborate with developers and architects to understand and contribute to data modeling efforts.  
  • Explore and evaluate opportunities to leverage AI or machine learning tools to enhance solution analysis, data insights, and process efficiency.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
     

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, quality assurance, or a related role; 5+ years preferred. 
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience supporting, enhancing, and troubleshooting business-critical applications, data solutions, and operational processes. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend effective solutions. 
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate business needs into scalable technology and data solutions. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs. 
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality results. 
  • Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, mentoring, and collaboration skills. 
  • Experience working effectively within cross-functional teams using Agile, Scrum, and continuous delivery practices. 
  • Experience analyzing business and data requirements, data flows, integrations, and end-to-end system processes across multiple platforms. 
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL concepts, data modeling fundamentals, and system integrations. 
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, troubleshoot, and validate SQL queries. 
  • Experience creating Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), user stories, process flows, functional requirements, and solution documentation.
