The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $90,000 - $115,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Senior Solution Analyst will be part of our Life Core Delivery team and contributes to Wawanesa’s success by designing, documenting, testing, and supporting system solutions to meet business stakeholder requirements across our core Life systems.

 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in an agile scrum team that facilitates rapid design, development and implementation of application changes that embodies a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development. You will have Analyst experience related to Business, Systems, and/or Quality and have technical proficiency with .NET applications.

 

You will work closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders in an agile scrum environment to deliver changes that:

  • Improve policy administration (new business, underwriting, policy servicing, billing, accounting, reporting)
  • Enhance claims management and broker/member experiences
  • Support platform modernization

The successful candidate will have a strong technical foundation, including proficiency in SQL and understanding of data flows between integrated systems. Candidates who demonstrate curiosity or experience in applying AI technologies to improve analysis, automation, testing, and/or decision-making will be well-suited to this role.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design, and documentation of system and business requirements for application enhancements and projects.
  • Translate business problems (e.g., policy administration, claims, commissions, billing, reinsurance, reporting) into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and solution options.
  • Work with architects and developers to design .NET and API-based solutions.
  • Lead requirement sessions with business and technology teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Provide technical and business leadership to developers and analysts.
  • Participate in and occasionally facilitate agile ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives).
  • Lead the resolution of system and business requirement issues.
  • Create test plans and estimates, evaluate requirements documentation, and identify key testing areas.
  • Lead process and procedure improvement initiatives.
  • Follow established practices, processes, and guidelines.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of current system standards and IS department methodologies.
  • Analyze and interpret SQL queries and data models to support data validation, troubleshooting, reporting, and performance investigations.
  • Investigate and document API interactions and integration payloads across Life Core applications and other systems.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in systems or business analysis.
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with business and technology transformation.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including the ability to write, debug, and optimize queries.
  • Experience working with integration payloads and understanding API-based communication between systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage a busy workload.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Advanced communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience with agile practices such as scrum, kanban, and continuous delivery.
  • Understanding of data modeling and relational database concepts.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript is an asset.
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, and Splunk is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the insurance or broker industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience applying AI or machine learning concepts to improve business or technical outcomes.
