The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The Senior Financial Analyst, Corporate Development, is responsible for overseeing the management of broker financing arrangements. This includes developing loan applications, reviewing and monitoring existing accounts, and fostering effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.
Additionally, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role within the Corporate Development team, contributing to the assessment of businesses for potential acquisition or divestiture by Wawanesa Mutual or its subsidiary companies, including Western Financial Group.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to profitable growth and quality of the Broker Financing Program by providing financial solutions and related activities for broker customers.
  • Ensure that the underwriting of credit applications in a timely manner, for authorization by senior management.
  • Ensure sound risk analysis, deal structuring, security and monitoring is afforded to all new and existing broker financing arrangements, minimizing potential losses.
  • Respond to any deteriorating credit situations, or non-performing loans in a timely, proactive manner with the goal of minimizing losses.
  • Conduct Annual Reviews on existing accounts in a timely manner adhering to compliance regulations.
  • Develop strong customer relationships by providing prompt, advice-based solutions to their requests.
  • Negotiate credit structure and terms with senior management group and customers.
  • Liaise with legal representation in the preparation of Loan Agreements and Security.
  • Liaise with other financial institution partners, as required.
  • Manage operational activities to ensure accurate and efficient completion of all processes.
  • Participate as deal team member for equity transactions as required, which may include financial due diligence and preparing materials for  Senior Executives or Board members.
  • Support on competitive analysis an industry benchmarking. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Post-Secondary Degree, preferably within finance, accounting or business. .
  • Commercial lending experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) would be an asset.
  • CFA,  CPA, CBV or other designation would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and business valuation skills, including ability to construct, analyze and critique complex financial models.
  • High level of knowledge in financial statement analysis, credit analysis, risk management, capital structures, accounting principles and policies, and complex loan documentation and security would be an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of lending practices, procedures and regulatory environment would be an asset.
  • Considerable working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, self-motivator.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with strong negotiating skills.
  • A team player that can work in a collaborative environment.
