Working Business Language: English. This role is considered a head-office role and will be required to communicate with internal and external stakeholders across Canada where the primary business language for this role is English. Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $85,000 - $100,000.  Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision, the Senior Executive Claims Analyst contributes to Wawanesa’s success by partnering with our IS teams and key stakeholders in the continuous delivery of claims solutions and processes that enable exceptional claims handling for our members and user experience within Wawanesa’s strategic framework. The right candidate for this role will have an inquisitive mind to get to the root of the problem, the openness to hear collective ideas and the drive to implement the desired result. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Organize the planning and coordination of work assignments
  • Lead and participate in the preparation of business requirements in alignment with guiding principles and strategic themes 
  • Collaborates with our IS partners with prioritization of defects and enhancements in the initiative backlog
  • Proactively identifies risks and issues in processes and integrations to streamline and improve them. 
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure claims business needs are met and consistent claims practices are implemented.
  • Liaises with regional stakeholders to analyze current state business processes and clarify regional requirements to identify opportunity for improvement by eliminating waste and leveraging opportunities. 
  • Acts as a change champion by providing change management support on initiatives through training and communications. 
  • Maintains initiative repository to enhance communication, allow for tracking, and ensure transparency
  • Creates and communicates regular status reporting to all stakeholders
  • Identifies benefits and continuously monitors and measures to execute on desired outcome
  • Recommends adjustments through critical thinking and escalates risks/issues
  • Supports the Business Leads on initiatives
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in the property/casualty industry or related field 
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to foster relationships, identify problems and issues 
  • Solid organization skills with the ability to prioritize and reprioritize appropriately 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to continuously identify and action strategic opportunities for the initiative team and organization.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, persuasion and influence, decision making, and conflict resolution skills with all levels of audience.
  • Ability to support high team morale by encouraging others to be excited, motivated, and enthusiastic about initiative activities and outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information, and to select and implement best solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience using integrations such as Mitchell, ERAC, Xactware, Progi, HCAI, would be an asset. 
  • Actively pursuing or completed post-Secondary degree/certificate or equivalent industry experience
  • Completed CIP or equivalent Business Analysis designation
  • Bilingual is an asset
