The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $45,000 - $50,000.Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

Working under direct supervision, this role supports Wawanesa’s objectives by ensuring our member’s needs remain at the forefront when processing payments and their exceptions in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining a strong focus on effective communication and adapting to best practices while adhering to operational protocols and requirements.

 

Note: this is expected to be a 12 month term.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Opens, reviews and routes payments and correspondence to appropriate teams, while using mail extraction equipment, as needed. 
  • Processes cheque payments with a high level of accuracy while striving for same-day processing
  • Prepares cheque payments for bank deposit using scanning equipment and investigate all irregularities within Service Level Agreement.
  • Prepare journal vouchers for bank deposit using payment software system, maintain logs and required payment documentation for auditing and record maintenance purposes
  • Processes Bank Information Changes, Suspense Payments, Postdates, Non-negotiable payments and other manual entries in billing system/Guidewire Suite within established Service Level Agreements
  • Initiates appropriate action for reimbursement requests, manually issue or re-send disbursements
  • Reviews and processes Activities and Trouble Tickets in a timely manner and reports exceptions 
  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Identifies opportunities for workflow improvement
  • Assists with training needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
     

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of administrative/billing experience or related experience
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong critical thinking skills, detail oriented, able to work with a high level of accuracy
  • Adaptable to a changing environment by adjusting effectively to change, exploring the benefits, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the change successful
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly, clarify and ask probing questions to ensure understanding and write in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong proficiency in alpha/numeric data entry is an asset
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Willingness to learn and try new techniques, tools and technologies
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 10 lbs., move boxes, climb a ladder (as needed), cart pushing and low mobility throughout our office 
  • Actively enrolled in the CIP program or willingness to enroll is an asset
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Software, Guidewire (Billing) Software and other payment processing software is an asset
  • Experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry is an asset
