Working Business Language: English. Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $110, 000 - $140, 000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Manager, Group Insurance – Products is responsible for the development and management of our Group Insurance products and services. This role is responsible for ensuring our products and services meet our member’s needs as well as meet our internal profit and revenue targets. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and refine product strategy that supports our strategic priorities and organizational goals.
  • Develop products and services, which includes research, business casing, product development, execution, and measurement.
  • Refresh products regularly to ensure they meet our member’s and broker’s needs.
  • Lead the implementation of products efficiently, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with underwriting, claims, legal, compliance, and pricing teams to ensure integrated and cohesive product development and management.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop marketing campaigns and increase brand awareness.
  • Manage relationships with strategic partners and vendors.
  • Monitor product performance and draw actionable insights from the data.
  • Monitor industry, competitive and regulatory landscape and propose action to maintain or lead in key markets.
  • Support cross-sell initiatives with other lines of business.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for internal and external training materials.
  • Act as the product expert and support both external and internal inquiries.
  • Provide product support to the underwriting and sales teams.
  • Develops, coaches, and manages the performance of direct reports, including identification of areas for improvement, to ensure achievement of business, functional and individual goals.
  • Build department talent by attracting, developing, and retaining insurance professionals with sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to fulfill the requirements of the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Creates an environment that encourages productivity, collaboration, teamwork, a high level of professionalism, learning and development and a culture of profitable growth across the products business unit.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in product management and development or related field.
  • Previous leadership experience, preferably in the Product environment. 
  • University degree in business, actuarial science, or another relevant discipline.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and gain respect, credibility, and confidence from others.
  • Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and high-pressure situations.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information and to propose best solutions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills with the ability to effectively convey ideas in a persuasive and eloquent manner.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to present information or arguments in a convincing manner.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and prioritize effective plans that define activities, resources, timelines, and cost estimates.
  • Ability to innovate and pivot quickly.
  • High level of self-motivation and keen sense of 'owning' and delivering on project results.
