The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. Job Overview
Reporting to the Manager, Group Insurance – Administration, the Group Specialist reviews escalated administrative and claims inquiries for further internal review and is responsible for maintaining the commission application and payment processes. The Group Specialist interacts with field staff, underwriters, and external customers to provide information in response to administrative, commission, and other general inquiries.
Job Responsibilities
- Serving as a subject matter expert on plan administration processes and procedures.
- Working closely with Group Plan Administrators on service-related issues.
- Working internally to assist in developing processing and communicating the service requirements of the Group clients.
- Collaborates with all internal departments to ensure process or decision changes affecting Group clients are communicated along with providing any necessary resulting process change recommendations.
- Support in the monthly administration of invoices and payments for vendors supporting the Group block of business.
- Provides support in the delivery of contracts/booklets as necessary.
- Maintains a good understanding and knowledge of administrative and claims adjudication processes.
- Participating in the development and implementation of new systems or tools to support administration functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Minimum three years’ work experience in the group insurance industry.
- In-depth understanding of Group insurance principles and benefits plans, including health, dental, Life and disability insurance.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the intended audience, including internal and external customers through written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify relevant information and potential impacts.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative with strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
