The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $70,000 - $85,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Financial Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day operational accounting function, working closely with the Financial Reporting team, providing expertise and support as required. The Financial Analyst assists with internal and external financial reporting and reviews general ledger account reconciliations. The Financial Analyst assists with finance modernization initiatives including report migration and testing and automation of current processes.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day operational accounting function, working closely with the Financial Reporting team providing expertise and support as required and participating in ongoing projects.
- Prepares month-end general ledger account reconciliations.
- Review of journal entries posted to the general ledger for accuracy and appropriateness, following-up on errors and unusual items.
- Supports month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare quarter-end and year-end working paper sections, and assist with internal and external financial reporting.
- Develops, maintains and updates procedure documentation ensuring to ensure processes are clear, consistent and current.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Obtained professional accounting designation; CPA, CA, CMA, CGA or enrollment in the CPA program.
- Minimum two years of relevant accounting experience.
- Takes clear ownership and becomes an expert in a certain subject area or areas, educating others in areas he/she is especially knowledgeable.
- Demonstrates effective communication by expressing ideas clearly, and asking probing questions to ensure understanding.
- Able to consistently identify when work is required and initiates action as appropriate.
- Demonstrates analysis and problem solving skills by collecting information from all relevant sources, involving others where appropriate, and asking effective questions to elicit detailed and relevant information.
- Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
- Demonstrates attention to detail by reviewing own work carefully and catching most errors.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure objectives are met by making quality contributions and supporting fellow team members.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office software.
- Experience with financial software and accounting tools considered an asset.
- Previous experience in public practice accounting or large organization considered an asset.
- Previous insurance experience considered an asset.
