Job Overview

The Field Claims Representative contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of moderately complex auto and/or property claims through personal contact with insureds, claimants, and witnesses. Daily travel is required.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
- Investigate losses to determine liability, attending loss scene as required
- Evaluate relevant information from sources such as lawyers, medical providers and other experts
- Write scope and estimate of loss using property estimating software
- Negotiate with insureds, claimants, lawyers and insurers
- Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
- Adjust claim from inception to completion in a proactive manner
- Provide ongoing technical advice and guidance to junior inside claims staff
- Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
- Supplement the National Catastrophe Team as required for Corporate Catastrophe Response in any region
- Remain up-to-date with legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2+ years insurance adjusting experience
- Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
- Strong knowledge of property estimating software, Xactware knowledge preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Excellent investigative and analytical skills
- Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
- Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Excellent negotiation skills

- Valid driver license with acceptable driving record
- Field of expertise: Strata and/or residential property claims
- Schedule: Monday to Friday during core business hours (Pacific Time Zone) reporting to the BC region
