Job Overview
The Group Sales and Service Specialist works closely with the sales team setting and enforcing administrative rules and guidelines across our service models; renewals and retention for a specific block of business, and resolves escalated administrative and claim inquires in collaboration with Group operations. This role interacts with field staff, underwriters and external members to provide information in response to administrative, and other general inquiries. Plan and execute Annual Business Plan to achieve business goals/targets for client retention and to achieve necessary persistency and profitability targets.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Annual Business Plan in conjunction with Sales Service & Key Account Manager and approved by VP Group Sales & Distribution
- Overseeing and managing the administration of specific client plans according to established rules and guidelines
- Resolve benefit plan inquiries escalations, understanding the urgency and advocating for all parties
- Assists in developing and maintaining internal process manuals and decision documentation as well as administrative documents for plan administrators and business partners
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure process or decision changes affecting other teams are communicated along with providing any necessary resulting process change recommendations
- Acting as the main point of contact for designated clients regarding administrative matters
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships by providing excellent service and support
- Provide feedback on market activity in assigned region as well as manage activities within expense budget allocated
- Review renewals, provide additional information and forward to advisors, with follow-up and, where necessary, to negotiate on renewals issued to Plan Advisors
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of product offerings, contracts, and administrative policies and practices
- Provides support by assisting with preparing and sending contract and booklet documents
- Maintains a strong understanding and knowledge of group administrative and claims adjudication processes
- Actively participate in internal projects as a subject matter expert
- Assists in the day-to-day administration of groups identified for special handling
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Working towards or have GBA or CEBS is considered an asset
- 5-7 years experience in the Group Insurance industry
- Driver’s License is required, and, must have own vehicle available on an as needed basis
- Must possess Life/Accident & Sickness License and E&O Insurance (or be able to obtain within 6 months)
- Ability to travel as necessary within the region and/or in multiple Provinces as outlined in the Business Plan. Includes travel to Executive office in Winnipeg when required. (Can include overnight travel)
- Strong team player with the ability to work cooperatively and constructively with internal teams to achieve the Operations service levels and benchmarks/targets
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate for intended audience, including internal and external members through written and verbal communication
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify relevant information and potential impacts
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Strong Microsoft Office skills with an emphasis on Word and Excel
