Job Overview

We are looking for exceptional candidates to take on the role of Senior Actuarial Consultant in Commercial Property and General Liability pricing. In this role, you will analyze data and conduct predictive and traditional pricing analysis on our existing and new products. You will mentor junior actuarial analysts while applying your knowledge to complex actuarial analysis in the pursuit of solving business issues and answering business questions. In addition, you are expected to provide actuarial services or support to other pricing, corporate actuarial, product development, and underwriting projects. We are open to hiring at various levels including Senior Actuarial Consultant / Actuarial Consultant.


Job Responsibilities

•    Develops and maintains ‘best practice’ processes and methodologies for Commercial property and general liability pricing
•    Understanding of current industry and professional standards/environment that will impact pricing and business decisions 
•    Ability to research, extract, and manipulate complex data from a wide range of data sources to apply to commercial pricing problems
•    Prepare recommendations based on the given business problem by comprehensively reviewing data, trend analysis, financial analysis, and business analysis
•    Enhance Commercial Property and General Liability rating plans by developing costing models
•    Ability to lead and participate on medium complexity business projects from end-to-end
•    Develop and deliver presentations to the actuarial group and other departments
•    Train/coach other actuarial staff on actuarial methods and actively share expertise with peers



•    Minimum of 5 years' prior work experience in insurance or related field
•    Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study
•    Prior Commercial P&C pricing experience is an asset
•    Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society equivalent of 7 CAS exams is an asset
•    Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively
•    Understanding of database systems and how to interpret/extract data from those systems
•    Communicates at the right level of complexity for the audience
