Job Overview

Our Commercial Insurance Actuary Pricing team is expanding! We are looking for an exceptional candidate to take on an Actuarial Consultant role.

 

Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Actuarial Consultant is responsible for leading the development of best practices integration into processes and methods used by the actuarial team. They will mentor Actuarial Analysts while applying their knowledge to complex actuarial analysis in the pursuit of solving business issues and answering business questions.
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains ‘best practice’ processes and methodologies for Commercial P&C pricing
  • Understanding of current industry and professional standards/environment that will impact pricing and business decisions 
  • Ability to research, extract, and manipulate complex data from all relevant sources to apply to Commercial Pricing problems
  • Prepare recommendations based on the given business problem by comprehensively reviewing data, trend analysis, financial analysis, and business analysis
  • Develop effective plans that define activities, resources, and timelines within project timelines
  • Ability to lead and participate on medium complexity business projects from end-to-end
  • Develop and deliver presentations to the actuarial group and other departments
  • Train/coach other actuarial staff on actuarial methods and actively share expertise with peers

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' prior work experience in insurance or related field
  • Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society, Associate of the Society of Actuaries, or equivalent
  • Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively
  • Understanding of database systems and how to interpret/extract data from those systems
  • Communication
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Communicates at the right level of complexity for the audience
