Job Overview
The Accident Benefits Representative I contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party small injury claims falling under relevant legislation. We will offer in-person training (Toronto ON) for the first couple of weeks for training and onboarding.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Interpret policy wordings, determines policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
- Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
- Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
- Prepares files for arbitration or litigation
- Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
- Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
- Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1 year insurance experience
- Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Effective customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
- Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Strong negotiation skills
- College/University degree is preferred
