Job Overview

The Sourcing Manager (Claims), Procurement is a results-driven team player who collaborates with Claims and Canada/US colleagues to develop and implement sourcing strategies, optimize supplier expenditures and mitigate supply chain related risks. In this capacity, the person will work together with stakeholders across the organization, internal business partners, subject matter experts and suppliers to develop and implement Claims specific sourcing strategies.


Job Responsibilities

  • To engage business stakeholders and colleagues, understand business requirements and help achieve goals and objectives
  • To support the development by which suppliers are evaluated, selected and managed in accordance with established guidelines and best practices
  • To collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the drafting of RFx documents, negotiating of corporate agreements and to maintain appropriate business relationships
  • To ensure effective delivery of sourcing engagements to business partners and thorough resolution of all issues
  • To be the key liaison and/or escalation point between Claims and the supplier in managing RFx communications and corporate agreement issues
  • To proactively conduct market intelligence activities, category sourcing trends and best practices and share knowledge, insight and advice with Claims to contribute to their long-term business strategies
  • To provide guidance and insight on RFx governance best practices and work together with Assurance functions to ensure supplier arrangements and agreements meet corporate requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • University degree (preferably in business administration). 6+ years of related work experience - a combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry
  • Demonstrated experience of sourcing practices
  • Strong commercial acumen and business judgement
  • Experience in project management and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, issue resolution, negotiation and relationship management
  • Effective communication skills including facilitation, consultation, negotiation, persuasion and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate, mitigate and resolve conflicts
  • Proven ability to influence change is critical
  • SCMP accreditation would be an asset
  • Some travel required (based on business need)
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to facilitate sessions presentations at all levels of the organization.
  • Previous experience in insurance or an insurance designation considered an asset.
