Job Overview
The Accident Benefits Representative Sr. contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of large, complex injury claims falling under relevant legislation.
**This position supports the province of Alberta, must be able to work in the area.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Adjustment of Accident Benefits claims of high complexity to catastrophic complexity injury claims
- Interpret policy wordings , determine policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving
- Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
- Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
- Communicate with injured members in a timely and proactive manner, by means of voice to voice, written or digital correspondence, ensuring all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely and empathetic manner.
- Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
- Manage Accident Benefit Claims in litigation, mediation or arbitration processes. Provide instruction to assigned counsel.
- Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
- Provide clear and consistent file documentation based on Standard of Work and Wawanesa's Proactive Case Management.
- Keep apprised of current changes and trends in the accident benefits/insurance industry through legislation, arbitration decisions, case law, etc.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to junior staff Provide ongoing technical advice, guidance, peer coaching and mentoring to claims staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 4+ years insurance adjusting experience in progressive roles
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or near completion
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology
- Exceptional customer service skills including empathy and concern for our customers
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Exceptional investigative and analytical skills including decision making and critical thinking skills
- Highly proficient time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
- Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
- Exceptional negotiation, decision making and critical thinking skills
- College/University degree preferred
Additional Information:
- Number of hours per week: 37.5
- Core business hours: 8:00AM to 4:30PM MT
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, during core business hours (Mountain Time Zone)
