Job Overview

The Information Security Analyst – Data Security is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to data loss prevention (DLP) alerts generated by our security tools. The analyst will work closely with other members of the cyber security team to ensure that our data protection measures are effective in reducing our risk exposure to cyber threats.  This position will focus data security and providing identification, analysis, and reporting services in support of businesses/groups. 
  
Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor DLP alerts generated by our security tools.
  • Analyze DLP alerts to determine if they are genuine security incidents, false positives, or benign events.
  • Investigate DLP alerts that require further analysis, including researching user activity, reviewing file metadata, and conducting forensic analysis of impacted systems.
  • Work with other members of the cyber security team to develop and maintain policies and procedures related to DLP alert monitoring, analysis, and response.
  • Develop and maintain metrics on DLP alert volume, severity, and resolution time, and report regularly on these metrics to management.
  • Collaborate with other members of the cyber security team to implement technical controls and data protection measures that align with industry best practices for DLP.
  • Participate in incident response activities as needed, including analyzing DLP alerts that may have contributed to a security incident.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure that data protection practices are well-understood and supported throughout the organization.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in cyber security, or a related field, with a focus on DLP alerts.
  • Experience with DLP tools including cloud DLP.
  • Strong technical skills in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and frameworks for data protection, such as ISO 27001, NIST, and GDPR, and experience applying these standards to real-world scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and prioritize DLP alerts based on risk and impact.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications and ongoing commitment to professional development.
