Job Overview

The Director Commercial Insurance National Initiatives & Quality Assurance is a key member of the Commercial Insurance Executive Leadership Team. 

 

In this role, you will work closely with the VP and all Commercial Insurance Directors to contribute to Wawanesa's success by leading the Commercial Insurance Quality Assurance program, the design, delivery and governance of our Underwriting Knowledge Site, Commercial Insurance Training Initiatives, internal Executive Office Communications and Standard Work initiatives, and oversees the Wordings & Product Licensing across Commercial Property & Casualty, Farm and Commercial Auto Portfolios. 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead three separate teams, who are responsible for Quality Assurance, National Initiatives and Wordings across all commercial portfolios.
  • Works with the Commercial Insurance VP and Commercial Directors to develop the communication and implementation strategies for National Initiatives to optimize execution, change management, and reinforcement by Regional Teams.
  • Works in partnership with the VP of Commercial Insurance to develop all communications and reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance Strategy and Framework, including the design, development, documentation, implementation and reporting of all Quality Assurance and Governance related activities for Commercial Insurance.
  • Develop the Commercial Insurance Training Strategy and work in partnership with Product Teams, Regional Teams, and Learning & Development to establish annual national training priorities and delivery schedule across all lines of business.
  • Lead the content management strategy for Commercial Insurance content housed on the Underwriting Knowledge Site, working in partnership with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the communication and national training strategy for Regional Teams including oversight, development and implementation of the Commercial Insurance Onboarding program for Regional Underwriting Teams.
  • Oversee Standard Work and Best Practices, and lead initiatives related to driving efficiency and consistency in partnership with Operational Excellence and Regional Teams, while maintaining quality across Commercial Insurance.
  • Oversee Commercial Insurance Wordings, Contract Language and Product Licensing.
  • Build talent by attracting, developing and retaining a team of highly engaged individuals with sufficient knowledge, skills and experience to fulfill the requirements of the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Oversee, coach and provides leadership to staff to ensure work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding.

Qualifications

  • Ten+ years of Commercial Underwriting Insurance experience.
  • A minimum of 5-years experience managing leaders, and/or working in a national leadership role.
  • Post-secondary education, and/or completion of a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
  • Technical competence in automobile, farm and/or property/casualty underwriting with a solid understanding and application of best practices in commercial insurance.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to use critical thinking, logic, critical reasoning and good judgement to get to the root of issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the intended audience
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to develop relevant information and produce quality deliverables.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team and remote environment.
  • Bilingual in French and English is not required but considered a strong asset.
