Job Overview

The Accident Benefits Representative II contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party claims falling under relevant legislation.

 

**This position supports the province of Alberta, must be able to work in the area.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Adjustment of Accident Benefits claims of moderate to high complexity
  • Interpret policy wordings , determine policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving  
  • Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
  • Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
  • Manage Accident Benefit Claims in litigation or arbitration processes. Provide instruction to assigned counsel
  • Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner Communicate with injured members in a timely and proactive manner, by means of voice to voice, written or digital correspondence, ensuring all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely and empathetic manner
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system  Provide clear and consistent file documentation based on Standard of Work and Wawanesa's Proactive Case Management Model
  • Keep apprised of current changes and trends in the accident benefits/insurance industry through legislation, arbitration decisions, case law, etc.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Junior staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2+ years insurance adjusting experience
  • Willingness to work toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation which would include supporting adjuster licensing requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology
  • Exceptional customer service skills including empathy and concern for our members
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills including decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders
  • College/University degree is preferred

 

 

Additional Information:

  • Number of hours per week: 37.5
  • Core business hours: 8:00AM to 4:30PM MT
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, during core business hours (Mountain Time Zone)
  • Location: Anywhere in Alberta
