Job Overview

The Accident Benefits Representative I contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of first party small injury claims falling under relevant legislation.

 

**This position supports the province of Alberta, must be able to work in the area.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Interpret policy wordings, determines policy coverage and ensure appropriate reserving  
  • Investigate and manage first party injury claims by telephone and correspondence
  • Coordinate services with vendors and service providers
  • Prepares files for arbitration or litigation
  • Liaise with claimants, doctors and rehabilitation specialists
  • Adjust claims from inception to completion in a proactive manner
  • Maintain accurate records based on company standards and policies within the claims system
  • Adjustment of Accident Benefit claims of minor to moderate complexity
  • Communicate with injured members in a timely and proactive manner, by means of voice to voice, written or digital correspondence, ensuring all inquiries are effectively dealt with in a timely and empathetic manner
  • Provide clear and consistent file documentation based on Standard of Work and Wawanesa's Proactive Case Management Model
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • 1 year insurance experience
  • Willingness to work toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation which would include supporting adjuster licensing requirements
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology
  • Exceptional customer service skills including empathy and concern for our members
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • College/University degree is preferred

 

Additional Information:

  • Number of hours per week: 37.5
  • Core business hours: 8:00AM to 4:30PM MT
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, during core business hours (MountainTime Zone)
  • Location: Anywhere in Alberta
