Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. Job Overview
The Website Strategist is accountable for delivering a modern and seamless website experience for our members and brokers, ensuring alignment with the Wawanesa brand, integrated marketing strategies, and compliance with technical and accessibility standards, and applicable regulations. Critical to this role will be a strategic lens paired with technical expertise to provide expert guidance, establish requirements, assess options, and gain stakeholder alignment for the business’ needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop a marketing website strategy that optimizes business results by understanding Wawanesa’s business objectives, prospects, members, brokers, product portfolio, and competition.
- Lead, prioritize, and project manage digital marketing initiatives including microsites, website sections, and campaign landing pages across various teams (marketing, user experience, web development).
- Establish a website governance framework and workflows in partnership with key stakeholders to sustain consistent, relevant, and optimal experiences for all audiences.
- Establish a measurement framework and define KPIs to ensure business goals are met and driving outcomes.
- Work closely with the experience design team to determine direction for all audiences’ experiences, ensuring continuous optimization, evolution of personalization, and website service design.
- Manage relationships with external digital agency partners.
- Lead, research, and develop technical, off-site, on-site search and artificial intelligence optimization strategies to ensure high visibility and relevance across customers’ channels of choice.
- Collaborate with marketing team members to execute optimization and content strategies that build brand awareness, drive leads, and establish trust.
- Ensures compliance with technical and accessibility standards, applicable regulations, and Wawanesa brand guidelines across digital platforms.
- Leads external third-party engagement management strategy for the enterprise (business listings, review sites), ensuring our presence remains current and our brand reputation is protected in the digital sphere.
- Measures and reports on website ROI, KPIs, and leverage insights to prioritize key initiatives and identify areas of improvement to accelerate performance.
- Identify website trends and critical conversion and drop off points and optimize the user funnel accordingly.
- Maintain an analytics framework on web properties to inform conversion optimization efforts.
- Manage the marketing technology stack for the measurement and optimization of web strategies, including Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Search Console, and Semrush.
Qualifications
- University degree or college diploma in business, marketing, web/application development, or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in marketing. Corporate experience within insurance or financial services industries preferred.
- Experience with leading complex website redesign initiatives, including implementation of updated UI standards, information architecture, and content management technology.
- Ability to influence various stakeholders including product leads, marketing teams, experience design and web development teams, and vendors, in ensuring understanding and buy-in to proposed strategies that will drive the business forward.
- A dynamic presenter capable of conveying complex ideas and strategies across diverse audiences and groups at all levels within the enterprise.
- In-depth experience with website planning and management, web design and content, and digital marketing and analytics platforms.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing data-driven digital engagement and search optimization strategies for complex brands.
- Experienced with agile project management methodologies and proficient with project management platforms (e.g., Wrike, Jira, Trello)
- Deep knowledge of marketing analytics, content management systems, performance metrics, reporting, and web technology
- Knowledge of markup languages (HTML), cascading style sheets (CSS) is an asset
- Understanding of how to work with user experience designers, digital accessibility and privacy standards, and effective web testing methodology.
