Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $85,000- $115,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision, this job contributes to Wawanesa success by crafting amazing digital experiences for our customers, brokers, and staff. You help us achieve our strategic business objectives by increasing user engagement, reducing friction, and supporting the Wawanesa brand. You will collaborate with business partners, agile teams, and other stakeholders to help turn user needs, requirements, and creative strategy into cohesive and appealing digital experiences. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Design user interfaces and user flows based on requirements and feedback from stakeholder groups.
  • Create UI wireframes, mockups and interactive prototypes.
  • Provide end to end user experience analysis of our digital platforms with the user needs in mind.
  • Work directly with Solution Analysts to review requirements and provide feedback on documentation.
  • Participate in planning activities as needed.
  • Mentor junior designers ensuring adherence to standards and guidelines and delivery of quality product.
  • Work directly with development teams to provide HTML and CSS templating and support.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve browser and device based display issues.
  • Estimate and track progress on work tasks.
  • Leads user research through thoughtful experimentation and testing (remote usability testing, A/B testing, one on one interviews, rapid contextual inquiries), capturing and identifying user needs or problems to be
  • solved and translated for product development.
  • Monitor product metrics and reporting tools (e.g. Medallia DXA, Google Analytics) to understand user behaviour and identify improvements.  
  • Interact with the Member Experience (MX) team to ensure alignment with the latest customer and user trends.
  • Interact with Communications and Marketing teams to ensure brand alignment and consistency.
  • Improve upon and ensure the adherence to the established practices, processes, and guidelines.
  • Develop UX documentation and UX templates for use by other groups.
  • Keep current with relevant technologies, techniques, and design paradigms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Post-secondary degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Digital Media or equivalent experience.
  • Six to twelve years practical experience planning, designing, developing and integrating user interfaces into production applications using current technologies  including designing end‑to‑end digital products, such as e‑commerce, subscription services, mobile apps, or personalized consumer platforms.Detail oriented with analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize and identify issues and take proper action to resolve them.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message.
  • Ability to communicate the business benefits of user experience to stakeholders with varied backgrounds and needs.
  • Strong background in data‑informed design for high‑traffic consumer experiences, including A/B testing and funnel optimization.
  • Experience designing AI‑enhanced user experiences, such as recommendations, personalization engines, chat/voice interfaces, automation tools, content generation flows, or predictive features.
  • Ability to translate ML and AI capabilities into intuitive user workflows, collaborating with data science, engineering, and product teams.
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and implement plans by prioritizing and multi-tasking.
  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to gain buy-in and consensus from various stakeholders.
  • Effective decision-making skills, with the ability to direct team members to achieve goals through clear instruction.
  • Experience using design and prototyping tools, such as the Figma, Adobe Suite, Sketch, UXPin, Mockflow, InVision etc...
  • Experience using agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe considered an asset.
  • Certifications in relevant technology or processes is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset.
