Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. Job Overview
The Manager, Product Prioritization reports to the Director, National Product Design and leads the Product Design & Delivery team within Wawanesa’s Product Management function. The role turns evidence-backed priorities into compliant, high-performing products and owns the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for Personal Lines—covering solution design, feature definition, business and regulatory requirements, pricing/underwriting alignment, build and integration, launch, and post-launch optimization—while working cross-functionally with Pricing/Actuarial, Underwriting, Technology, Distribution/Marketing, BOS/Claims, and Compliance/Legal.
Job Responsibilities
- Convert priorities into solutions: Translate recommendations into scoped solutions, Product and Business Requirement Documents (PRDs/BRDs), acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
- Prioritize product structures and features: Align initiatives with business strategy, underwriting needs, and technology capabilities.
- Align pricing & underwriting: Direct rating/eligibility/rules, filings/wordings, forms, and guardrails with Pricing/Actuarial and Underwriting; ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., FSRA/CCIR expectations).
- Deliver build and integrations: Partner with Technology Product Owners on epics/backlogs, solution architecture and data flows, test strategy, UAT, and release management; drive defect triage and change control.
- Ensure operational readiness: Secure readiness across all internal/external stakeholders, finalize T&Cs/versioning, service motions, and issue-management paths with documented sign-offs.
- Lead go-to-market: With Distribution/Marketing, deliver launch plans, broker enablement (positioning, toolkits, incentives), and member communications.
- Run controlled launch & scale: Execute pilots/controlled rollouts, validate KPI targets (conversion, activation, retention, NPS, LR/COR), and scale with cutover/rollback plans.
- Manage performance: Monitor post-launch scorecards; iterate or deprecate features; ensure outcomes track to the business case.
- Drive vendor & partner delivery: Oversee SOWs/SLAs, data/privacy terms, and integration timelines with external partners.
- Embed into planning: Embed prioritization insights into enterprise and product roadmaps and ensure alignment with enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
- Lead the team: Build a high-performance culture; coach PMs/analysts; model Wawanesa values (Service, Openness, Fairness, Collaboration, Community).
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related field required.
- Professional designations in insurance such as CIP, FCIP, or CRM are considered an asset.
- Minimum seven years of progressive experience in product management, underwriting, pricing, or strategic planning within the insurance, financial services, or technology industries.
- Minimum three years of experience leading people, with proven success developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate business cases, prioritize initiatives, and allocate resources effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance products, pricing, underwriting practices, and distribution models.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and build consensus across stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects, balance competing priorities, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working closely with technology, distribution, and operations teams.
- Familiarity with digital product development, system integrations, and user experience design is preferred.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
