Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $100,000 - $135,000.  Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

Working under minimal supervision, this job contributes to Wawanesa success by designing, documenting, testing and supporting data-centric solutions to meet business stakeholder requirements.
This role primarily supports data quality, with additional emphasis on master data management, and data enablement practices aligned to enterprise standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis, design and documentation of both business and data requirements for enhancements and projects, with a focus on data quality and governance.
  • Lead data requirement elicitations with business teams to capture business and technical data needs, and data quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with multiple functions to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems.
  • Provide technical and business leadership for developers and analysts as needed.
  • Lead the resolution of system and business requirement issues, including data quality issue investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation support.
  • Design and implement data quality rules, perform data profiling, and support identification of Critical Data Elements (CDEs). Develop and maintain data quality metrics, scorecards, and monitoring processes, ensuring visibility to business and governance teams. Support data quality issue management, including triage, tracking, and resolution in tools such as ServiceNow/JIRA. Lead changes to process and procedure improvements related to data quality and governance.
  • Collaborate with data stewards and business teams to align data quality rules with business definitions and governance standards.
  • Follow and support master data management practices, including definition of key entities, attributes, and data consistency rules
  • Analyze business requests and design data-centric solutions, including data models, data flows, and high-level architectures. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Seven years’ experience performing business and data analysis with experience in data quality, data management, or data analysis.
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data quality issues and drive resolution.
  • Advanced communication, planning and  prioritization skills.
  • Experience in data quality management, including data profiling, validation, monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Understanding of data governance and Master Data Management concepts, including data domains, matching, and data consistency.
  • Ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions, including data models, data flows, and high-level solution designs.
  • Strong understanding of data flows, and data lineage concepts.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL or similar platforms)Experience working with data quality or data management tools (e.g., Informatica CDQ/IDQ or equivalent), Informatica MDM (or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience using AI /GenAI (Claude/Microsoft CoPilot/GitHub Copilot/similar) for building Data governance/Quality Solutions.
  • Good leadership skills to provide guidance and direction towards task accomplishment and mentorship.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven experience in agile practices, scrum, kanban and continuous delivery.
  • Experience in programming languages is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset
