Job Overview

The Director of Regional Business Development is responsible for driving sales strategies and initiatives for Wawanesa in Ontario. This role involves close collaboration with the Ontario Leadership team and head office teams to achieve business objectives. 

 

The Director, Regional Business Development, along with the Business Development team, is the face of Wawanesa in the region.  This role creates and executes on sales programs over both short and long term.  

This is a hybrid role covering the Ontario region and ideally based within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The successful candidate will work a mix of in-office and remote from home. We offer a flexible schedule to accommodate both business needs and individual requirements, with regular travel to meet brokers within the region.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and execute sales programs to meet business targets that includes P&C and Life. 
  • Drive and lead a high-performing team to support Wawanesa's distribution channel sales responsibilities. 
  • Prospect new distribution partnerships including developing and strengthening current partnerships.
  • Stay updated on industry and regulatory changes. 
  • Contribute to the development of company policies. 
  • Champion initiatives to ensure employee understanding and commitment. 
  • Stay abreast of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends as they relate to the insurance industry. 
  • Performs other responsibilities as required including support for eastern business development initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years’ Business Development experience with five years in a leadership role, within the P&C Insurance Industry including significant commercial knowledge.  Life insurance is an asset. 
  • Proven leadership skills with the proven ability to build exceptional teams.  
  • Strength in presenting in a compelling manner including the ability to convey ideas in a persuasive and eloquent manner.   
  • Strong knowledge of the P&C Insurance market and broker network within the Ontario region is required.   
  • Ability to make decisions in complex and high-pressure situations. 
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies and plans that bridge complex issues that span across time. 
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues. 
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration or other discipline in combination with MBA, CIP/FCIP desirable.  
  • Strong established broker network.
