Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $170,000 - $210,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Director, Enterprise Risk Management leads the activities that support the organization’s enterprise and operational resiliency program to ensure a sound governance structure is in place for identifying, monitoring, reporting and control of all material and emerging risks.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and support for risk identification, risk assessment, key risk monitoring and stress testing to support the operational resiliency program.
- Provide oversight and challenge on risk mitigation processes and policy and procedure enhancements.
- Support assessment of the organization’s Risk Appetite Framework and suggest new risk appetite statements, targets and limits to drive continuous improvement.
- Produce quarterly comprehensive reporting, tailored to the audience, that accurately communicates the organization’s current and changing risk profile.
- Collaborate with leaders and other members of the executive risk function to further development and evolution of the group’s experience, skills and tools, and to promote consistent practices and minimize impact to business units.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders, including leaders within the business having risk management responsibility to enhance the level of risk management maturity and to promote an active risk management culture.
- Oversee, manage and coach an engaged and effective Enterprise Risk Management team through employee development, performance management and succession planning, in order to ensure that the work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding, and that employees are maximized to their full potential while contributing to the achievement of Wawanesa's goals.
- Develop and champion initiatives within the Director’s sphere of influence that support the strategic goals of the Enterprise Risk Management team and the organization as a whole.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in risk management, preferably working for federally regulated financial institution with three years in a leadership role.
- Post-secondary education in business administration, sceience, economics or related field of study
- Insurance (CIP, FLMI) or Risk Management designation would be considered an asset.
- Ability to provide leadership, vision, and direction for an effective, efficient, and consistent evaluation and management of strategic and other significant risks for the organization.
- Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and high-pressured situations.
- Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues.
- Demonstrated experience in anticipating emerging issues and proactively working with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to mitigate business risk exposure.
- Strong influencing skills with ability to effectively collaborate across the business to build a strong Risk culture.
- Excellent communications skills and ability to advise the leadership team on complex, cross-functional issues and decisions that impact the organization’s ability to effectively manage its risk exposure.
- Focus on operational efficiency and speed of execution for key projects.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to create a high-performing employee culture.
