Work Environment: We offer a hybrid work environment that offers flexibility to our employees in balancing in-office (2 days per week OR 15 hours per week in a Wawanesa office) and remote work. You may work from any of the following locations: Winnipeg, MB; Calgary, AB; Edmonton, AB; Toronto (North York), ON;  Moncton, NB; Dartmouth; NS.

The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $47,000 - $52,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Claims Assistant - Accident Benefits  provides administrative and operational support to the National Accident Benefits Claims team by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of claim-related activities. This role is responsible for managing claims documentation, processing payments, monitoring work queues, and supporting claims workflows in accordance with regulatory requirements and company processes and procedures.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Review, organize, and process claims documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and established procedures. 
  • Process Health Claims for Auto Insurance (HCAI) invoices, ensuring accurate tagging, matching, and payment within company protocols. 
  • Monitor and action assigned work queues, including HCAI matching, litigation mailbox, mediation mailbox, and vendor referral mailbox, within established turnaround times. 
  • Assist in maintaining complete and accurate claim files by updating claim systems with new information and supporting documentation. 
  • Complete claim downloading, assignment, and workflow routing activities with accuracy
  • Prepare and distribute accurate correspondence while ensuring quality and attention to detail.  
  • Maintain productivity, quality, and service standards while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Collaborate with Recovery Care Specialists to support efficient claims operations and deliver exceptional service to members.
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties, including e-faxing, emailing, and preparing electronic file copies (e.g., CD/USB) to support claims processing and document requests.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Business Administration, Office Administration, Insurance, or a related field is considered an asset. 
  • Working towards, or willingness to obtain, Charted Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach. 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize completing tasks. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when processing documents, payments, and claim information.
