Job Overview

 

Working under minimal supervision, the Claims Technical Specialist contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by analyzing business processes to support design and/or modification of operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the adjusting function. This role requires regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders across Canada. As such, the successful candidate must be fully proficient in French and English.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing research and analysis of industry and competitive market trends to support process improvement
  • Recommend changes to documentation (business processes, user guides, and procedures) in order to facilitate user training as well as the integration of new processes within current operations
  • Liaise with the Executive Office, assisting with the development of rules, guidelines, manuals and forms
  • Coordinate and assist with development of regional communication plans related to operational processes, projects, and performance
  • Review and analyze regional claims results to ensure adherence to claims standards
  • Coordinate and provide instruction and/or training of regulatory requirements for compliance
  • Act as a tutor for Claims Adjusters Trainees
  • Coach and mentor Claims Adjusters from all business lines when implementing new processes and/ or procedures
  • Represent the company at the Quebec court for legal cases
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory authorities (IBC, PRR, GAA, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Fully proficient in French and English
  • Minimum of seven years Property and Casualty industry experience
  • Possess a Claims Adjuster license for personal and commercial lines (5A) from AMF (Autorité des marchés financiers)
  • College/University degree (asset)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Superior knowledge of coverage wordings, policy interpretation, case law, legislation, and insurance regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to conduct detailed analysis of information, and to select and implement best solutions in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the audience and present information or arguments in a convincing manner
  • Good negotiation skills, with the ability to present information in a convincing manner
  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to ensure group objectives are met
