Working Business Language: Bilingual in French and English. This role is considered a head office role and requires regular interaction with internal and external stakeholders across Canada where the business languages utilized are both English and French. As such, the successful candidate must be fully proficient in English and French.

The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $80,000 - $90,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Translation Specialist is responsible for delivering high quality English to French translation services to support high volume internal business departments, such as Claims or Commercial Lines. This role ensures timely, accurate, and consistent translation of operational communications, including correspondence with members and broker partners, to support service speed and quality, compliance, and business efficiency.
This position is based in our Montreal Region Office and reports to the Director, Employee Communications and Translation Services located in Winnipeg, MB.
Job Responsibilities
- Translate high volumes of written content from English to French for internal departments.
- Translate operational and transactional communications such as member correspondence, broker correspondence, internal communications, and business documentation.
- Review, edit, and proofread translated materials to ensure linguistic accuracy, clarity, tone, and adherence to corporate standards.
- Apply French language requirements and compliance standards, including Quebec language obligations, in translated materials.
- Use translation technologies and AI enabled tools, such as translation memory systems, to support efficiency while maintaining high quality through post editing and review.
- Meet service level expectations by managing multiple translation requests, prioritizing deadlines, and maintaining consistent turnaround times.
- Support internal partners by clarifying translation needs and ensuring translated content aligns with intent and context.
- Contribute to terminology consistency by applying approved glossaries and flagging terminology issues or gaps as they arise.
- Collaborate with Communications team and business teams to support continuous improvement in translation processes and quality.
- Translate urgent or time sensitive communications as required.
Qualifications
- Post secondary degree in Translation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional translation experience in a corporate or institutional environment.
- Complete fluency in French and English, with exceptional written communication skills in both languages.
- Experience translating high volume operational or transactional content, including customer correspondence.
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Experience using translation tools, translation memory systems, or AI assisted translation technologies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal partners.
- Translation experience in insurance or financial services is an asset. Professional translation accreditation (e.g., OTTIAQ) is an asset.
