The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $50,000 - $54,000.

Job Overview

The Claim Assistant handles a variety of tasks to support Claim Adjusters, including but not limited to setting up and assigning claims, requesting reports, reviewing invoices, issuing payments and recoveries, and using multiple software.

This opportunity as a Claims Assistant will be a part of our Accident Benefit Claims team and will contribute to Wawanesa by helping our members achieve optimal recovery through member centric, fair, proactive claims handling and resolution​.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Open new claims and assign appropriate claims adjusters.
  • Identify, sort and distribute Accident Benefit Claim Department documents.
  • Conduct data base searches.
  • Prepare forms and correspondence, and ensure successful transmission of documents to insurance clients, vendors and legal representatives.
  • Scheduling Insurer Examinations.
  • Process, coordinate, sort and distribute incoming correspondence.
  • Process payments on claim files in accordance with timelines.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as emailing, faxing, copying, and indexing.
  • Manage file storage and retrieval process for closed files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellent time management and organization skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry.
  • Able to effectively navigate and use various technological tools, including databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Completion of Post-Secondary education is an asset.
