Senior Actuarial Consultant (Pricing Research & Development)

Job Overview

Wawanesa is looking for an exceptional candidate to take on the role of Senior Actuarial Consultant in our expanding Pricing Research and Development team. As a member of Pricing R&D, your focus will be on improving our pricing sophistication through enhancement of loss cost models, collaborating closely with pricing leaders in leveraging the models to optimize rate changes for our members. You will function as an expert in actuarial methodologies and mentor actuarial staff at all levels in the understanding and use of these methods. 

Job Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related discipline.
• More than six years of actuarial experience an asset.
• FCAS designation an asset.
• Experience with machine learning modelling or other pricing modelling methods and software.
• Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to apply knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to problems in insurance.
• Understanding of database systems and how to interpret/extract data from those systems.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate at the right level of complexity for the audience.
• Ability to develop timelines for projects and handling multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner while proactively keeping leader informed of progress.
• Works efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment and involve others when appropriate.
• Ability to ask effective questions to elicit detailed and relevant information.
