The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $140,000- $160,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Working under minimal supervision, the Manager, Rating Quality is responsible for leading initiatives related to reducing the risk of rating errors.
Job Responsibilities
Lead projects to reduce rating complexity
- Create a vision to simplify complex areas of rating logic, taking a national approach, and ensuring an extensible foundation.
- Develop rating structures, rules, and manuals to align with business goals, soliciting input from multiple areas of the company.
- Ensure solutions are compliant with regulations.
- Develop go-to-market strategies including training and communication to ensure effective implementation.
- Provide oversight of actuarial analysis of insurance rates, rating procedures and rating plans.
- Prepare necessary regulatory filings, ensuring the actuarial practices are consistent with accepted actuarial practice and correctly applied.
- Collaborate with application delivery, underwriting, and regional product and pricing teams to create delivery plans that account for interdependencies between projects
- Collaborate with risk and compliance functions to ensure solutions are independently reviewed and challenged
Develop and champion process changes to close control gaps
- Review and identify process and control gaps in implementing Rate and Product Changes
- Develop procedures to build best practices in developing and handing off system requirements
- Act as a coach and champion to set a high bar for standards across the organization for developed best practices.
- Assist with design and implementation of testing practices to reduce the frequency of rating errors
Leadership
- Manage performance of direct reports inclusive of providing professional and technical guidance, and provide regular performance reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study.
- Extensive knowledge of current insurance pricing techniques.
- Extensive knowledge of the Property Casualty insurance industry and insurance operations in general.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand context and its impact on all issues
- Identifies when something needs to be done and initiates action as required
- Adapts to change effectively
- Develops and implements comprehensive plans that bridge complex issues and span across time
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision
- Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society an asset
