Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $110,000- $150,000 Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
Working under the leadership of the Director of Claims Analytics & Insights, this role supports Wawanesa’s success by leading the efforts of the Claims Operational Insights team.
Leveraging knowledge of claims data and processes, analytical skills, and proficiency in data visualization, the Claims Operational Insights team transforms data into timely business insights, deep-dive analysis, and critical reporting - providing Wawanesa’s Claims Operations with the tools and information they need, when they need it. This team is a crucial contributor to achieving Claims Operations objectives in the coming year and beyond.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and further develop a group of claims experts and data analysts on the Claims Operational Insights team.
- Manage the work of the Claims Operational Insights team, engaging closely with Claims leadership and other stakeholders as appropriate, providing detailed insights, reporting, and deep dive analysis.
- Communicate critical insights and analysis to Claims leadership with clarity and focus, leveraging interactive dashboards, published reports, and/or presentations as appropriate.
- Identify, develop, and recommend improvements to claims analytical and reporting capabilities,
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Claims leaders and internal stakeholders from across the organization including Actuarial, Data Management, and others. Oversee validation of reporting, enhance documentation of internal procedures, improve data quality, and ensure adherence to data governance policies.
- Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate in support of budgeting, billing, and forecasting.
- Stay current with industry trends in the data and insurance spaces, challenging the team to develop best in class solutions.
- Effective at change management, builds support and overcomes resistance for key initiatives through proven communication and persuasion skills.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that reinforces collaboration, innovation, and respect – enables the team to feel comfortable and engaged to work at their full potential while contributing to the achievement of Wawanesa’s goals.

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience, performing or leading data analysis, actuarial analysis, statistical analysis, developing analytical models, and/or performing analysis of claims results, in a P & C insurance context.
- Advanced problem-solving and analysis skills with consistent rigor in quality of work.
- Experienced communicator with a proven ability to present, coach, and persuade.
- Effective at managing multiple priorities. Strong organization and time management skills.
- Managerial or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and engage high performance teams.
- Ability to develop, retain, and attract top talent to meet current and future business needs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in programming considered an asset (SQL, Python, and/or R)
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, considered an asset.
