Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. Job Overview
As a key member of the Wawanesa Life Architecture Team, the Integration Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the division’s integration strategy. Embedded within Wawanesa Life, this role collaborates closely with business and delivery teams while aligning with enterprise architecture standards, ensuring consistency, scalability, and strategic alignment with broader business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Integration Strategy & Architecture
- Define and evolve integration architecture standards, patterns, and reusable components for the Wawanesa Life technology ecosystem
- Champion API-first, event-driven, and microservices-based design principles to support scalable and resilient solutions
- Develop long-term integration roadmaps aligned with Wawanesa Life’s business and technology strategies
Solution Design & Delivery Support
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to gather and analyze integration requirements
- Design integration solutions that comply with enterprise, security, data governance, and regulatory standards
- Provide architectural oversight and mentorship to delivery teams, ensuring alignment with target state architecture
- Participate in design reviews and approve solution design deliverables
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex integration issues across development, test, and production environments
- Maintain comprehensive integration documentation including architecture diagrams, interface catalogs, and data flow maps
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate emerging integration technologies and recommend adoption strategies
- Contribute to the development of enterprise standards, reusable templates, accelerators, and best practices to improve delivery efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience
- 2 - 5 years of experience in integration architecture
- 8 - 10 years of experience in solution design
- Strong knowledge of integration technologies (REST APIs, messaging queues, ETL, enterprise service bus)
- Experience with enterprise integration patterns and API management platforms (e.g., Canonical modeling, pub/sub, Mulesoft, API Gateway)
- Experience with cloud-native integration, particularly AWS
- Proven ability to design scalable, secure solutions balancing performance, cost, and maintainability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
Assets:
- Insurance industry experience
- AWS certifications or familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Knowledge of data modeling, data architecture and data governance principles
