The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. Job Overview

Our Finance team is expanding with two new Finance Business Partner positions: one for Commercial Insurance and one for Personal Insurance.  Reporting to the Manager – Management Reporting & Analysis, the Finance Business Partner’s will support budgeting and planning activities and the production of management reports for Commercial or Personal Lines. In this role, the analyst will collaborate with the Enterprise FP&A team and Commercial or Personal Lines leadership team to provide proactive and insightful analysis that supports both short- and long-term financial objectives for Personal Lines. The ideal candidate possesses experience in producing and analyzing management reports, budgeting, planning activities, and expense and FTE forecasting.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed financial and economic analysis to assist Commercial or Personal lines leadership team with decision support. 
  • Work closely with business leaders and finance partners to provide financial advice and service that supports the financial management activities of the business. 
  • Support the monitoring and management of financial performance against plans, forecasts initiatives and objectives. 
  • Generates information and insights that support key business decisions to drive value.
  • Manage Commercial or Personal Lines financial and strategic planning cycle working in close partnership with the operational leadership team, Enterprise Finance and the Actuarial Forecasting team. Ensure the budgeting process is used as a yardstick for measuring the operating company’s business performance.
  • Manage the production of monthly operational performance analysis and rolling monthly forecasts for the operating company.
  • Prepare ELT level reporting, quarterly business reviews and internal monthly management reporting.  Ensure meaningful analysis of variances and anomalies is provided to business leaders.
  • Contribute to the support of all corporate expense areas (Enterprise Shared Services) ensuring functional leaders have a deep understanding of their businesses and financial implications of their decisions.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of processes and system changes, addressing existing and future opportunities or challenges for the function.
  • Be proactive with key functional/business leaders to fully understand needs and provide influential information.
  • Maintain insightful financial and operational metrics to foster a data driven culture. 
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to provide financial analysis direction for operational decisions.
  • Represent the function in working groups or committees, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in finance, accounting, actuarial or analytical field. 
  • CPA, CFA, MBA or other professional designation. 
  • Knowledge and experience in the insurance industry.
  • Solid understanding of accounting processes and terminology. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to proactively confront difficult issues, influence and gain respect, credibility and confidence from others.
  • Ability to make excellent and well justified decisions in complex and high-pressured situations.
  • Excellent organizational skill and time management skills, including the ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects within required timelines and expectations. 
  • Capability to ensure others contribute to organization strategies by focusing them on the most critical priorities, measuring progress, and ensuring accountability against those metrics. 
  • Proficient at providing feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help others excel in their current or future job responsibilities; planning and supporting the development of individual skills and abilities. 
  • Ability to influence others to implement better approaches to address problems and opportunities; leading the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace. 
  • Strong focus on implementing practices that meet organizational needs and promote efficiency and value creation.
  • Strong negotiation skills by presenting information or arguments in a convincing manner and by focusing on what is important.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize and identify critical issues.
  • Strong MS Office skills and experience with financial modelling.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment with a high level of initiative.
