Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $140,000 - $190,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview
The Enterprise Architect is responsible for the optimization and governance of technology investments that support Wawanesa’s corporate strategies and service priorities. Operating as a strategic leader and trusted advisor, the Enterprise Architect defines the architectural vision, principles, and standards shaping and governing the overall Technology landscape. The Enterprise Architect provides direct leadership to Domain and Technology Architects, guiding their work, coaching their development, and ensuring architectural decisions are cohesive, scalable, and aligned to enterprise strategy. The role champions responsible technology adoption, partners closely with business and technology leaders, and elevates architectural maturity, enabling Wawanesa to deliver with speed, quality and scale.
Job Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development and support the execution of the Information & Technology strategy to maintain alignment technology investments with Wawanesa’s strategies and priorities.
• Define, publish, and maintain enterprise architecture guiding principles, reference architectures, patterns, and standards; ensure adoption through effective governance.
• Maintain a holistic view of enterprise business capabilities, application and technology portfolios, and their relationships, using capability models, architecture repositories, and multi-horizon roadmaps.
• Lead portfolio transformation by identifying critical deficiencies, rationalizing technologies, reducing technical debt, and driving standardization across platforms.
• Operate and evolve architecture governance forums (e.g., Technology Review Board, Architecture Review Board and Architecture Working Group), ensuring consistent decision making process and traceability.
• Partner with Technology teams to guide solution architecture, integration, and data flows that enable end-to-end capabilities.
• Lead the governance of technology introduction and where necessary support build‑buy‑partner analyses and vendor evaluations, negotiating architectural trade‑offs, total cost of ownership, and value realization
• Support technology risk governance and compliance processes.
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders, communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences and drive consensus without formal authority.
• Directly lead Domain and Technology Architects set goals and OKRs, assign work, provide ongoing coaching, deliver formal performance reviews, manage compensation, and build succession and workforce plans.
• Recruit and onboard architecture talent, create learning paths, mentorship, and communities of practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field with 10+ years of experience in competitive and highly regulated business environments.
• 15+ years of experience in at least three disciplines of business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information management or operations in a complex technology environment within a large enterprise.
• Extensive experience in architecture design, including identification and development of architecture patterns and technology risk analysis for both future state and transitional architectures.
• Extensive experience with capability modelling alongside the overlays of application portfolio management, integration architecture management, technology and risk management and information management.
• Adept at collaborating and communicating with stakeholders across all hierarchical levels, adept at building consensus, influencing without formal authority, and driving the implementation of decisions.
• Exceptional communication (verbal and written), negotiation, consensus building and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate at the right level for the intended audience.
• Ability to quickly comprehend the capabilities of existing, new, and emerging technologies that enable and drive new business designs and models.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proficient with verbal and written communication, coupled with the skill to articulate complex information clearly and concisely to audiences of varying technical expertise.
• Previous experience in the insurance and finance industry is considered an asset.
