Salary: At Wawanesa, salary is only one component of a holistic, comprehensive and competitive offering that we provide to our employees. The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. Job Overview
The Director, Advanced Analytics - Model Operations is responsible for ensuring the seamless operationalization, management, and maintenance of advanced analytics models across Wawanesa. This role is critical in embedding analytics capabilities into Wawanesa’s business processes, ensuring models are efficiently deployed, monitored, and optimized to deliver ongoing value. The Director, Advanced Analytics - Model Operations will collaborate closely with various teams to ensure robust model governance, scalability, and compliance with regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Job Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of Wawanesa’s Data & Analytics strategy, focusing on the operationalization and governance of Artificial Intelligence and advanced analytics models
- Lead the operationalization and lifecycle management of advanced analytics models ensuring they are effectively integrated into Wawanesa’s business processes and decision-making frameworks
- Collaborate with Integration and Application Delivery teams to ensure seamless deployment, scalability, and performance optimization of models
- Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks for the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of analytics models
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices related to model risk management, data security, and incident management
- Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and other stakeholders to minimize model risk while maximizing the value of model outputs
- Work closely with the Director, Explorations to transition exploratory models into operationalized solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable analytics practices throughout Wawanesa’s operations
- Oversee the management of tools, infrastructure, and data pipelines necessary for the efficient operation of analytics models
- Ensure that the analytics infrastructure is scalable, secure, and capable of supporting Wawanesa’s evolving analytics needs
- Implement processes for the continuous monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of deployed models, particularly in Artificial Intelligence, to ensure they deliver sustained value over time
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies and best practices in model operations
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of analytics professionals focused on model operations
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational excellence within the Model Operations team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in analytics model operations, with a proven track record of successfully deploying and managing advanced analytics models, especially in Artificial Intelligence
- Strong understanding of model governance, risk management, and compliance in a regulated environment
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership
- Demonstrated expertise in managing analytics infrastructure, tools, and data pipelines, particularly for Artificial Intelligence models and systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a dynamic environment
- Experience in insurance or financial services is an asset
