Job Overview

The Property Claims Division Supervisor contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by working in conjunction with the Claims Manager to provide leadership to Property claims business unit, focusing on the achievement of key business goals and customer service standards.  


The pay range for this position is $93,445 - $140,167, depending on experience.


Job Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities of a group of property claim supervisors
  • Provide guidance and leadership to all employees in the Property Claims unit
  • Manage service levels by organizing, distributing, monitoring workflow, and setting priorities to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity as guided by corporate policies, procedures and business plans
  • Conduct or contribute to employee development and employee performance management through coaching and following up on the development of Supervisor competencies
  • Conduct periodic reviews of claims files and coaches team to strive for continuous improvement and development by setting and tracking individual and team performance objectives
  • Provide direction and leadership in areas such as: coverage analysis, investigation, policy interpretation, damage identification/estimation, settlement negotiations, vendor management and establishing reserves for various types of property claims
  • Handle escalated customer issues/complaints and complex or fraudulent cases that require experience and specialist knowledge
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance team to develop strategies to improve claim quality and minimize leakage
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • 7+ years of progressive property claims adjusting experience
  • 3+ years of claims leadership experience preferred
  • Multistate property claim handling and leadership experience preferred
  • College/University degree preferred
  • Completion of CPCU designation preferred
  • Extensive property claims knowledge with technical expertise in policy language analysis 
  • Solid knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, policy wordings, corporate guidelines, procedures, and standards related to property claims
  • Demonstrated ability to diffuse tense situations with technical knowledge and resourcefulness sufficient to answer questions and resolve problems
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the development team members by providing support, learning opportunities and a positive work environment 
  • Excellent writing, organizational, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills are required
  • Mentors other team members to develop excellent leadership skills
  • A continuous learner willing to seek continued professional education and development 
  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 5 lbs on a daily basis
  • Position requires low mobility throughout the building to meet internal customer demands.
