Job Overview

 

The Manager, Accident Benefits Claims, contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience by providing leadership to the claims team focusing on the achievement of departmental, regional and corporate key business goals and customer service standards.  


 
Job Responsibilities

 

•    Oversees and coaches the Accident Benefits Claims operation to ensure the work environment is respectful, challenging and rewarding and employees are maximized to their full potential

•    Implementation of business plans, providing leadership to successfully engage employees in performance and development to achieve business results aligned to our strategic priorities

•    Champions initiatives and is receptive to both employee resistance and acceptance, so that genuine understanding and commitment can occur.
•    Motivate, coach and inspire the team to provide exceptional customer experience during every interaction with policyholders
•    Ensure achievement and maintenance of claims processing standards within established guidelines
•    Provide guidance and direction on complex files
•    Identify and addresses training and developmental needs within the department
•    Conduct employee performance management and salary review process
•    Stays abreast of industry, regulatory and company changes or trends as they relate to the insurance industry
•    Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications


•    10+ years Property and Casualty experience, including 3+ years of people management experience
•    Post-secondary education, and/or completed CIP 
•    Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coach, guide and positively motivate teams
•    Exceptional customer service skills including empathy and concern for our policyholders
•    Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
